Bobby Travel, a travel agency based in South Africa, is planning to invest $2 billion in a new headquarters and a brand-new airport in a bid to boost its business and position itself to be more competitive with rivals.
Bobby, which has been around since 1999, announced plans to expand its operations to Pakistan in January.
The move comes after the Pakistani government in January passed a law that would allow the government to spend $2.5 billion on infrastructure projects in the country over the next five years.
The new headquarters will house the agency’s international operations and also will have a hotel, shopping mall and sports facilities.
The airport will also have an airport and hotel, according to the company.
The company also said it will add more than 1,000 employees to its workforce in Pakistan.
Bryan Roodman, president and chief executive officer of Bobby Travel Group, said the new headquarters would be the biggest expansion of the company in the last four years.
“It’s going to be an amazing location, we’re going to have the best staff, the best infrastructure, the most advanced technology,” Roodmann said.
“We’re looking forward to doing that.
It’s going be a big, bold move to expand our footprint.”
The company’s move comes amid a sharp downturn in travel business in Pakistan, where travel is often a key source of income for the middle class.
While Pakistan is one of the world’s fastest growing economies, the country has struggled to compete in terms of attracting foreign tourists and attracting foreign workers to fill its growing job vacancies.
Bennet and Bobby Travel have also been struggling to attract employees, as some of the jobs have been lost and other jobs are being outsourced to countries like India.
Bunnings, a retail and wholesale clothing company based in the United Kingdom, has laid off about 700 workers since February and is considering outsourcing some of its operations, according a report from Bloomberg.
The company also has had some struggles in recruiting from India, with a new recruitment agency, GoSale, recently offering jobs to Indians for the first time since 2010.
BNPT’s CEO said the company plans to hire more than 200 workers in India in the next three years, up from about 120 currently.BNNPT has also struggled to attract foreign talent, with many of its employees being from China.
Last year, the company hired about 1,300 employees, up nearly 60 percent from the previous year.
