Kazan International Airport has been the focus of the national media and social media after two separate incidents of violence.
The incident happened around 1pm on Friday when two groups of young men attacked and vandalised a hotel room and several cars outside the airport.
Police have said the two groups were wearing masks and that one of the men also wore a mask.
The incidents sparked protests and riots, with some people claiming they were being targeted for their political views.
“I was not the only one who was attacked,” said Shazia, a 27-year-old student who did not want to give her last name.
“They were wearing balaclavas, I did not see anything like that in the hotel.”
It’s just wrong that people should be targeted like this for political reasons.
“A spokesperson for the airport told news.com.au it is working with the authorities to try to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
Kazans police are now investigating all the incidents that took place.”
